“If you buy roundwood or want to check the amount of it transported, you can safely use Timbeter”

Timbeter and the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine had quite a fruitful cooperation during the last academic year. The purpose of this collaboration was to introduce young specialists to digital technologies aimed at ensuring the sustainable use of natural resources, avoiding illegal activities in the forest sector and increasing transparency in the forest industry as a whole.

Andrii Bilous, Prof. Dr. Sci. (Forestry), head of Department of forest mensuration and forest management of National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine, shared his opinion about the usefulness and accuracy of the Timbeter solution, and how it can help the forestry industry to be more efficient and transparent.

“If you sometimes buy roundwood or want to check the amount of it transported, you can safely use the Timbeter mobile program. This solution allows you to measure the volume of logs in a stack, log diameters (have a spreadsheet), determine the pile density coefficient and the volume of wood on a truck. If used correctly, the software can even achieve an accuracy of 1-2% compared to existing methods of taxation. This year, our master’s students tested the accuracy of Timbeter’s timber inventory. They were provided with a free subscription for academic purposes.

In general, Timbeter is not only a single program, there is also Timbeter Container and Timbeter Log Counter. This integrated solution enables the electronic tracking of wood, including its coordinates, as it moves from the lower warehouse to the final processing point.

Everyone can use 10 free measurements, which are quite enough for preliminary operational accounting of wood, either for personal needs or one-time operational control”.
